elevated PIujj Obituary
Passed away peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2023 at House of Providence at the age of 95. Beloved sister of predeceased brothers Rogerio, Rev. Antero DeMelo and sisters Isaura and Maria Jose. She is survived by sister Salome and brother Mario. Beloved aunt of Nancy, Antero, Roger, Theresa, Nelly, Wayne, Elizabeth and the late Diane. Cherished great aunt and godmother, she will be missed by her many grand nieces and nephews and several godchildren. She was a loving and devoted sister and aunt who never hesitated to help in any way she could and generously supported her siblings, nieces and nephews. Idalina was a talented seamstress who received her couture education in the Azores, Portugal. She later immigrated to the United States in the 1950s, along with her parents and siblings settling in Fall River, Massachusetts. In the 1960s, she later moved to Toronto and began working for the Archdiocese of Toronto. For the next three decades, she worked tirelessly in the Pastor residences of the parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St.Agnes, St.Sebastian and St.Helen’s. Our aunt established deep roots within the Catholic Church and was a strong believer in the power of prayer, her rosary was always within reach. A talented crocheter, she loved spending time creating beautiful crocheted tablecloths. We would be amazed at how quickly her hands skillfully worked away, all the while talking and laughing with family. She was a loving and generous soul with a warm smile and will be dearly missed by all. Many thanks to the amazing staff at the House of Providence who treated our aunt with the utmost care, compassion and gentle kindness.
