With profound sadness we announce the passing of Isidor Joseph “Monty” Monteiro on May 29, 2026, at the age of 84.

elevated eTapi He was born in Mumbai, India, and went onto build a successful career in the Middle East, setting up his own business as a Design and Operations Managing Director at Dana International, and then continuing his career in designing kitchens in Toronto, following family immigration to Canada. His work was more than a profession—it was a source of pride and purpose throughout his life. He went through many transitions in his long life but always embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm.

elevated eTapi Beyond his career, Monty was a man of many passions and talents. He had a deep appreciation for music and art, finding joy and inspiration in creativity and culture. He found much pleasure in listening to Country Music among many other genres, art and painting, and in playing his mouth organ. He loved driving, relishing the freedom of the open road and the adventures it brought. An avid follower of current affairs, he remained engaged with the world around him and enjoyed thoughtful discussion on the issues of the day.

elevated eTapi Monty was a father to Natasha and Premika, and through his daughters, a grandfather to Nicole, Cameron, Jayden and Jasmine. He leaves behind family, friends, and all who knew and loved him, who will cherish their memories of a life well lived, and a man who faced life’s challenges with a quiet strength, hope, and sense of humour.

elevated eTapi Though he is no longer with us, Monty’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, in the conversations he inspired, the music he enjoyed, the art he admired, and the countless lives he touched, through his intelligence, kindness, wisdom, and steadfast presence.

elevated eTapi Rest in peace, Monty. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
