James passed away peacefully in his 89th year in Toronto with his loving family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife Mary Anne (née Snell) who he spent 75 unforgettable years with. Cherished father of William (Linda), and David (Jackie). Beloved grandfather of Charlene (Daniel), Michael (Roxy), James (Kendra), and Chantal. Adored great-grandfather of Sloan and Hailey. Dear brother to John (Nina), Paul, and the late Mary Helen and Peter (Carol). By James’ request, a private cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in the summer.
A letter to my Grampa….
Tall, charismatic, and kind is what I see with eyes so full of love looking back at me. Total acceptance and excitement to be let in, to what journey lies ahead. No sign of hesitation or word to discourage, only abundance, joy and positivity sent to encourage. Off with an “Okay babe” and a “Call me later” to start yet another chapter. A long phone call upon my return and a thousand and one pictures to show my adventure. Hearts connected through the path less traveled, the longing for discovery, deep love for getting lost in Limberlost. Having lived a life of “My Way”, dressed in plaid on plaid, driving a two-toned F-150, arm hanging out with a cigar in hand. Long conversations avoiding the masses with a quick puff here, a dog snuggle there and a joke that has me laughing. The world doesn’t seem so bad sitting next to you while talking about all the wonderful things you got to do. Adrenaline junkie, seeking out the new, we’re really not so different me and you. A bit of a loner, always looking for a pun, you were never too shy to ask me for another rum. Stories that could go on for days on end, I don’t think you ever realized how much I loved being your friend. Kindred spirits with a passion for horses, I was always so grateful to have you in my corner. A true soul connection when talking about the dogs and cats that came and went, never hesitating that one day we would all be reunited again. Long talks about the Rainbow Bridge and the moment when we would see all our best friends again. You see, I don’t think anyone ever really understood, but this bond that we have is like glue. I hope you know that wherever I go, whatever I do, I’ll be riding along shotgun in that F-150 with you.

Big Jim !!! Only nice things to say about this fella . Lived life HIS way … filled with great adventure fun and love for all that knew him .. We all need to do that the older we get . Our sincere condolences to all the family .

So many wonderful memories of ‘Jimmy’ when I was a kid. Super cool dude. Great family. Got to share in so many experiences thanks to him: riding mini bikes at their farm, swimming in their pool (very rare back then), snowmobiling, watching him and my father butchering a moose in his garage.
Such a fun, gregarious, generous, entertaining man.
Thanks for providing a wanky little kid with so many awesome memories and experiences!
