elevated OxZTm He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force when he was eighteen years old. He flew thirty-eight missions overseas as a mid-upper gunner on Mitchell Bombers during World War II. When he came home he started his career and worked for forty-five years as an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Daddy was happiest at the cottage with his family around him, bouncing a baby on his knee and tending to his garden. He faithfully attended daily mass and was known for sharing finger rosaries with those who crossed his path. What a life story and courage! A real Canadian hero!

I remember Mike bringing his dad to talk to the students every Remembrance Day when I taught at St. Margaret of Scotland. Mr. Coburn was so great with the students and was always so proud to share his experiences. It made the war so much more real to have an actual hero in our midst! God rest him.
