elevated c0aUe Janet Lorraine Miklas Moffat passed away on December 16, 2019, at home peacefully, and surrounded by her adoring family.

elevated c0aUe Janet was born and raised happily in Thornhill, with three older, protective and loving brothers.  She attended and graduated from Loretto Abbey in 1982, followed by Queen’s University, University of Toronto Bachelor of Education, and Association Montessori International.  Sports were a big part of her life from a young age, actively participating in figure skating, competitive and recreational tennis, skiing, and golf.  She was a much sought-after golf partner for all events, and even managed to play at a family Thanksgiving tournament in mid-October (which she won!). She thoroughly enjoyed her friendships and activities at the Granite Club, Rosedale Golf Club, and the Windermere Golf and Country Club in Muskoka.

elevated c0aUe Janet’s ultimate joy was her role as mother to four children, to which she dedicated her energy and love unconditionally.  She routinely attended and supported the children’s education, hockey, skiing, basketball, tennis, dance, music, and frequent breaks to the local ice cream store.  Among her happiest times were summers spent with her family at her cottage on the Miklas property in Muskoka, surrounded by close friends, and easy access to all the activities she loved.

elevated c0aUe Janet will forever be remembered by her beloved husband, Stephen Moffat, and her four children, James, Jake, Ryan and Elizabeth.  Other members of the household include faithful friend, Marjorie, and Janet’s affectionate canine shadow, Poppi.

elevated c0aUe She is survived by her loving parents, Anne and Dusty Miklas; and three brothers, Greg (Linda), Brian and Paul (Holly).  Also her nieces and nephews, Andrew (Erin), Jason, David (Kate), Sarah, laura, Adam and Mathew.  Predeceased by her niece, Ashley in 2018.

elevated c0aUe Janet was the cherished daughter-in-law of Dr. John and Dolores Moffat, and sister-in-law of Lorie Wasylyshyn (Bob), Tinti Moffat, John Moffat (Paula), Mike Moffat (Nikki), and Robert Moffat (Vicki), as well as eleven nieces and nephews, Adam, Robbie, Kelly and Mark, Heather Alexander (Charlie), Laura, and Greg (Jamie), Karina, Nick, Robyn and Tom, and one grandniece Emelia Alexander.

elevated c0aUe Janet is also survived by Dana Stewart, her cherished friend and co-founder of Manor Montessori School in Toronto.  She was enormously proud of the creation of the school in 1994, its teachers, its commitment to quality education, and of the children attending.
