elevated 1FhyQ Obituary
Our loving mother and nana, Jean Anna Oxley (Hermon) passed away at home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the age of 93. Her parents Johanna Long and William Hermon immigrated from England and settled in London Ontario where Jean was born. She worked at McCormicks and soon moved to Toronto working for the Easter Seals Society and Scotiabank. Jean was married for nearly 60 years to her soulmate Harold, who preceded her in death. She raised two daughters, Carol (Zareh) Oxley-Simonian and Diane Oxley. She was a proud and devoted Nana to Johanna, Jacob, and Emelia, who brought her endless joy and countless reasons to smile.
elevated 1FhyQ Jean had a lively spirit and a warm presence that made people feel instantly at ease. She had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures – music playing in the background, a good book in hand and classic movies that never seemed to get old. Sundays were special to her, often centered around a roast dinner and time spent with the people she loved most.
elevated 1FhyQ Jean and Harold created many cherished memories….driving out to BC, camper in tow with Carol and Diane and travelling the world from England, Spain and Italy to Egypt, Ireland and Newfoundland. Jean enjoyed a few memorable trips with her dear friend Joyce, one in particular being a visit to England to see her cousins Margaret in Plymouth and Peter in London; a truly special time together. She also treasured her many visits with her niece from Oshawa, Leslie and her family. Jean had a sense of adventure that never faded….one of her most unforgettable experiences was a helicopter ride with her son-in-law, Zareh – something she spoke about with excitement and pride.
elevated 1FhyQ Jean will be remembered for her kindness, her humour, her love of a good story and her ability to find joy in both the big adventures and the quiet moments. A special thank you to her PSW’s, Anne-Marie and Indira, for the comforting care and compassion you showed our Mom.
elevated 1FhyQ We will miss you, Mother Dearest and Loving Nana.
elevated 1FhyQ In lieu of flowers, a donation to the CNIB in memory of Jean would be appreciated.
