elevated VOlsU February 17, 1987 – January 20, 2021

Jessica Constance Perera was granted her angel wings on January 20th, after a long battle with cancer. She spent her final days, peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. Although her life was short, those who were touched by Jessica understand that the quality of one’s life can far exceed the quantity of time they have on earth. Her kind nature, infectious smile and heart of gold brought so much joy to everyone whose path she crossed.

Born February 17th, 1987 to a loving family, her free spirit and zest for life set the stage for a life full of fun and adventure. She loved to sing and dance and lit up the stage with her energy. She excelled in school and graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts then continued her education to fulfil her dream of becoming a teacher. She loved to travel the world but also loved to be at home, enjoying time with family and friends.

Jessica will be lovingly remembered by her parents; Charmaine & Hilaire, her brothers; Ian & Shawn, nieces and nephew; Lia, Eveley & Henley, sister-in-laws; Bekki & Melissa, and boyfriend; Jason.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

I’m Free – Author unknown

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone will stay that way,

I found that peace at close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish for you, the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life has been full, I’ve savoured much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and share with me,

God wants me now, He set me free.
