Joan Tang [Nee: Chin], beloved wife of Oswald, devoted mother to Peter and mother-in-Law to Simone, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2025 at the age of 85 after a courageous battle with ALS.
elevated lZ4Mf Born to Judith Aileen Ming and Chin See Shing, Joan was the cherished sister of James Chin PacHon (and Lucille), Merle Lee (and Berwick), Joseph Chin (and ex. Janice passed), Janet Chung (and Vernon -passed), Jackie Headecker (and Garth – passed), and Anthony Ming (and Selina), and is reunited in heaven with her sister Stephanie Bacchus (and ex. Alan). She was also a beloved sister-in-law to Shirley Fung (and Ken), Cecil Tang (and Marion) and Reuben Tang (and Barbara).
elevated lZ4Mf Joan’s unwavering faith, generous heart, and radiant strength were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her love of God guided her every step, and her kindness touched countless lives.

My sincere condolences to Ossie, Peter and Simone & families. I knew Joan mostly through participation on the Divine Mercy Prayer Warriors team. May she rest in peace.
So sad of Joan’s passing. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Joan was such a gentle and loving person. At St. Timothy Catholic Church, she shared her gift of service with the Catholic Women’s League, her gift of intercessory prayers with the Prayer Ministry and the Rosary Group, and she read so well as our lector at Masses. Joan touched many lives and now is an even more powerful intercessor. Thank you, Jesus for her life and her kindness. Thank you for the blessing to know Joan and learned from her. Deep sympathy to Ossie, Peter, Simone and the family.

Our condolences to Oswald, Peter & families on the passing of a pleasant , quiet member of St Timothy’s parish . Joan was very graceful and soft spoken . We had the opportunity to serve with her in the prayer ministry . She was generous as well as prayerful. May the Lord, his blessed mother and Saint Joseph take Joan to her eternal rest. She has run the race and kept her faith. Eternal arrest, grant unto Joan O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon her and give her your peace.

I came to know Joan as her alternate Lector when she was unable to read on Wednesdays. Occasionally, we would see each other—always with warm smiles—and share brief conversations about our families.
I vividly remember the moment Joan confided in me at church that she had been diagnosed with ALS. Her face carried a quiet sorrow, yet there was no bitterness—only a graceful acceptance of God’s will. Having read Tuesdays with Morrie, I understood how devastating and unforgiving this disease could be. I could only imagine the difficult journey that lay ahead for Joan.
Still, she continued attending Mass faithfully, for as long as she was physically able. Ossie, too, showed unwavering acceptance and devotion, always accompanying Joan to church with quiet strength and love.
Joan was deeply supportive of my charitable group, the Knights of Columbus. Whenever she learned we were holding a fundraising event, she would make the effort to attend Mass—even when walking had become difficult—and would ask Ossie to buy pancakes from the Knights at noon. I knew they didn’t particularly enjoy pancakes, but they bought them anyway, simply to show support for the Knights and for me, as her friend.
Her generous heart touched many, as was evident in the large gathering at her funeral Mass. The Gospel she chose for that service reflected her complete surrender to God’s will and her spiritual direction after passing—to go to the Lord, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
You will be deeply missed, my friend. Your grace, strength, and kindness will remain in our hearts.
