It is with heavy hearts and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Joao Lima at the age of 76, on September 18, 2025, from melanoma.
elevated sq3Ao He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his partner Eva (daughter Lisa); his daughter Michelle; grandchildren Carissa (Nick) and Ryder; great-grandchildren Asher, Grayson, Ryder, and Madelyne; his sister Fernanda (Joao), and brother Jose Henrique (Conceicao); nephew Joao (Sonia), and niece Debora. Predeceased and reunited with his parents Francisco and Josefina and loved by his friends and extended family.
elevated sq3Ao After serving for his home country of Portugal, Joao immigrated to Canada where he lovingly raised his family and proudly made our local Catholic school and church shine, from which he received a Mother Teresa award from the Catholic school board. After retirement, he fondly enjoyed his remaining years creating memories with Eva and her family travelling, celebrating events within the Portuguese community, and cheering for his favourite soccer team Benfica.
elevated sq3Ao He will be remembered as a devoted family man, proud Portuguese-Canadian, veteran, and devout Catholic whose heart was on his sleeve and policy was to always practice kindness.
elevated sq3Ao Our family wishes to express gratitude to the Dorothy Ley Hospice care team, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the hospice would be greatly appreciated.

My condolences on the passing of John. I had the great privilege of working alongside John at the school. His strong work ethic, love of family, generosity and sense of style will be remembered. He was a wonderful man.
My condolences on the passing of John. I was very lucky to have worked with John at our school in Hesson and Listowel. He was a hard worker and always had time to chat about family. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
