elevated N4yNp Obituary

After a long battle with dementia, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Joe Pusateri who left us on January 8th, 2026. Joe, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He is survived by Ela “my wife” Pusateri, his two loving daughters Maria (Claudio) and Lorena (Frank) and his six grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin), Alessia, Joseph, Natalie, David, and Matteo. He will be missed by his sister Enza (Giacomo), and his nieces in Termini, Delia (Maurizio), Daniella (Sergio), and their children. He will be reunited with his beloved parents Salvatore and Maria, along with his sister Dora (Frank).

Born October 6, 1937 in Termini Imerese, Sicilia, Joe lived a life defined by hard work, respect, and generosity, but most of all the love of his family, especially his wife. Arriving in Canada with Ela, at a very young age they built their successful business of almost 50 years—Pusateri Fruit Market. Together they laid the foundation for their wonderful family.

He found joy and peace in tending to his garden and eating a good meal prepared by Ela. He was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them. He enjoyed the simple things in life—a bowl of ice cream, an espresso, playing cards, or retiring to his favourite armchair to watch Juventus or the Leafs.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness will live on in his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in his name.
