It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of John McCash, aged 53. On May 18, 2025, after a mercifully short battle with pancreatic cancer, and surrounded by family, John was taken by his Heavenly Father after receiving the final sacraments of the Holy Church.Â
Â
John was fearless and unapologetic in his drive to reach unsaved souls for the Kingdom of God, and was often found evangelizing on the streets of Toronto carrying his cross. He was also courageous in his fight for the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. His last words were to his friends to “take up the cross”.Â
Â
John is survived by his wife, Dinorah, and his four children, Joseph, Patrick, Daniel and Monica. He is also survived by his parents Dan and Muriel, as well as his siblings Paul and Emma (Mike).Â
Â
Many thanks to the countless friends who came to offer support and comfort during his last weeks, their generosity went above and beyond, and we are deeply touched by the outpouring of love. As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations to Shifra Homes or Campaign Life Coalition would be greatly appreciated by the family. May he rest in Peace.Â
Â
Â
I met John in several pro life marches in Toronto and I can only add that his passion and courage to take up the cross and share with the world was truly remarkable and inspiring to me. He was one in a million in his journey to share religious beliefs to everyone. May The Good Lord keep John’s soul close to his heavenly throne forever. Amen.
I met John years ago but had the pleasure of working with him closely last summer at the Ave Maria Center .. John recounted his memorable trip to Medugorie at the time …we laughed every day …God bless you John

To Patrick, Joseph, and Daniel: I am so sorry for such a sudden loss of such an important person in your lives. Though I never met him personally, I can tell he played an extremely important role in your lives, and I know how proud he is of you, looking down on you on the wonderful men you have become. Know you are in my prayers.
We’ve offered Gregorian Mass by Rev Fr Patrick Gnapragasam for soul of John Evangelist who I met at Queen’s Park demonstration a few years ago and at Ave Maria Centre. Eternal rest grant upon him and may he rest in peace.

Isaiah 57
1 The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.
2 Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.
God bless you John and your faithfulness and sample at those rallies.
Our condolences 🙏 đź’”to John’s family
John the Evangelist Rest in peace 🕊🙏💔 you were a pillar in the Freedom community. Many memories .
. Only once in a lifetime is a soul like John’s born.
To say he was unapologetic only scratches the surface of who he truly was.
He was larger than life—he shook lives, challenged minds, and made everyone around him question their own foundations.
I wish I had stayed closer, but it was hard.
I wish I had been more like him—less quick to judge, more ready to forgive.
I miss you, my brother.
May God hold you in His hand until we meet again.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~
John’s courage was undeniable. I pray to die as well as he did, full of faith and expectation.
May John rest in peace! Thanks John for your zeal and leadership and sacrifices for God, love, life and family!
Dennis and I extend our condolences to you and your family. We will pray for the repose of his soul and prayers for you all during this time of mourning and loss.

We remember John when he used to drop at our house for a chat and snacks.

Mary Granic and Family.
Dear Muriel,
My deepest condolences to you and Dan & the rest of your family, most especially to John’s wife, Dinorah and children. Eternal rest grant unto the soul of John O Lord & let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace! I was intending to pay my respects during the visit ation and attend the funeral Mass but I didn’t get the schedule in time to make it. So sorry to miss these. I just thought it was taking longer because of your present family circumstances. A big hug to you dear Muriel.
John was fearlessly carrying the cross of Jesus at every freedom rally at Queens park that I attended and spoke at. His undying love of Jesus and the Holy Spirit showed in his steadfast message to love Christ. We will miss John but his message is everlasting! RIP
Rest in peace, John the Evangelist. Thank you for championing the holy image of Christ everywhere you walked. God bless you forever and always in His holy kingdom.
I was deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. John was a truly special person who touched the lives of so many.
Our sincere condolences to Dinorah, Joseph, Patrick, Daniel and Monica, Dan and Muriel McCash and the entire family. I see John’s legacy and impact through those I have been privileged to meet- specifically, Dinorah, Dan and Muriel.
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Psalm 73:26
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
May you find comfort in the love of family and the support of friends during this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all.
Sending my prayers and condolences to John’s family and closest friends. I met John at the Queens Park Rallies and was kicked out of Longos in Mississauga with him. He was a fierce warrior for Jesus! How he stood for hours carrying the cross during rallies and marching thru the city streets without ever complaining or setting the cross down is a testament to his faith. As God gains an angel in heaven we have lost a warrior on earth….He will be missed.
Our condolences to the McCash family. The suffering and passing of someone so young, we would imagine is extra difficult for John’s young children and especially his parents Dan and Muriel, to see one’s own son passing away so early in life. With the deepest condolences and heartfelt sadness from Lucian and Brenda Ezman and family.
I never knew John in life, but stumbled upon his obituary “by accident”. I was deeply touched by all the references to his courage in standing up for life. It seems like the pro-life movement in Toronto has truly lost a warrior.
My condolences to you, his family. I prayed for him and for all of you at Mass today. May he now intercede for you and all of us, and inspire us to carry on the fight. God bless you. ~ Your sister in Christ in Toronto
I remember John vividly from our high school days together at SMC. May he rest in peace.
Eternal rest grant unto him… although I can’t imagine John resting. Now I imagine him triumphant. Deepest condolences to Muriel and Dan and all the rest of the family. John loved Him fiercely.
