elevated 9tC58 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Roger Villiers on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
elevated 9tC58 John, 77, leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Rose Marie, his devoted son Jonathan, his loving daughter Jennifer and her husband Cameron, and his cherished granddaughters Emily and Megan, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
John is pre-deceased by brother Michael, and survived by his sister Carol and brother Roger.
He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, and many lifelong friends.
John dedicated more than 30 years to education as a teacher with the Etobicoke Board of Education and later the Toronto District School Board.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s memory, made to the Alzheimer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
So sorry to hear of John’s passing. I taught Phys.Ed. with John at Elmbank for many years. We got along well and enjoyed working together as well as socializing with colleagues or family members outside of school. Thanks, Jenn for letting our Jen know about John. Our condolences are sent to you and your Mom and the rest of the family. May the many wonderful memories of your Dad help you through this difficult time.
Sending my sincere condolences to John’s family. John was very kind and helpful my first years as a new teacher at Elmbank. He was a beloved member of staff and will be missed by so many.
Rose-Marie and family……John’s passing has been communicated far and wide by his Thistletown Collegiate friends and teaching colleagues. It is a sad day for all of us. John, like Many of his friends became teachers and mentors for thousands of students starting their lives. They are a fortunate bunch. Rest in Peace John. Wishing you “fair winds and following seas”. We will miss ya.
John was a such a great guy . He was my favorite teacher . He taught at a tough school and made life easier for all of us . I was fortunate to have had business dealings and lunches with him over the past 20 years . He had a huge impact on a lot of people and will be missed
John and I taught together-and drove to Elmbank together for many years.
He was a kind and caring friend and colleague with an easy way with those around him , often using a subtle but wicked sense of humour to help get us through some pretty difficult days.
He was a stand up friend and I know he will be remembered with love.
John is fondly remembered by his friends from the Thistletown collegiate era. Those friendships didn’t end there, but crossed many decades, growing stronger and more meaningful to everyone. That’s what life at its best is all about.
