Johnzel Tagle, born on September 11, 1969, passed away peacefully on Monday February 17, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre – Unity Health, Toronto. He was surrounded by loved ones,
while streaming his favourite playlist.
Affectionately known as, John or Johnny, he lit up the room with his warmth, his incredible smile, boisterous personality and most of all his awesome sense of humour.
He was a wonderful storyteller, infused with well timed jokes or impressions of those he loved.
Many called him brother; easy to talk with, sincere, thoughtful, generous and genuine. John believed in simplicity; in love, friendships and with family,
always reminding us to enjoy life and to not sweat the small details.
Besides a successful career that spanned over three decades in insurance, risk management and international market expansion, John lived his absolute best life! His love of music, exploring great restaurants, relaxing at a cottage with family and friends, golf and fishing were always the centre of his days off.
DJ John could instantly fill a dance floor with old-school hip hop and the coolest mixed tunes. He’d golf the day away with friends, then head off to a cottage to fish the weekend away.
John coined himself ‘Funcle’, the Fun Uncle, who spoiled his sisters, girlfriend, nieces, nephew and cousins, with shopping sprees, generous gifts, annual cottage trips, or
with a little box of sweet treats, ‘just because’.
John adored his girlfriend Audrey and her family, as much as they loved his charisma and fun. To his parents, John will forever be the son who gave them everything and made them incredibly proud! John would always be the one to throw in “remember when . .” stories during family dinners, leaving everyone hysterically laughing.
To his sisters, John will forever be the best big brother, full of simple-no-fuss advice, hilarious stories of them growing up and constant reminders to work less, laugh more and to simply chill when life got too hectic.
John is survived by his loving mother Josefina Tagle and his beloved sisters, Princhet Tagle and Mary-Grace Machado. Family meant everything to John, including his brother-in-law John Machado, cousin Athena Duenas, aunt Marilyn Tagle Caparas (Bayani), and cousins, Brian and Vanessa Caparas. John was Ninong (Godfather) to his beautiful nieces, Ella Maria Machado, Olivia Grace Tagle-Garcia and to his awesome nephew, Jacob Carlos Machado. John will be remembered deeply by his beautiful girlfriend Audrey Alvaro and her children, Jonathan (Breanne), Jordan, Cassandra (Luka) and John’s little man, Julian.
Although John’s time with us was too short, he will continue to shine bright; savouring amazing food, wine and playing the best tunes. Our Husband/Dad, Generoso Tagle, awaits John in Heaven and soon they’ll be off in a fishing boat, on a peaceful lake, getting snagged and losing their favourite Rapala lures. May our Husband/Dad and Son/Brother enjoy their eternal blessed life together!
We pray you rest in peace knowing how much you are loved and admired John, Johnny, Anak, Ninong, Zel. We miss you already!

I found out this afternoon (fam day) and it has been awhile to process. It was nice having John come by my cuzo Joehl’s office to catch up from time to time which he shared his amazing network of friends for me to dj for. We last enjoyed each others company only last Oct at Cabinfest. It really felt like only yesterday which makes this difficult to hear. Gonna miss you John you were an amazing soul to have known all these years 🙏🏾🕊️
Condolences to all his (our) friends and family.
Dearest Prin, Grace & Tita Josie,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of John. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
Wishing you strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead. Please know that you are in my thoughts.
With deepest sympathy,
Joseph Carrubba

“Johnny T” as I knew him, he was someone who I looked up to throughout my life. Smart, charismatic, and very generous with his time and attention. John was always there to help and support a friend.
I will cherish the time spent with Johnny, and will keep his memory alive in my heart.
Until we meet again my friend. Love you.
JT,
We will continue to sing those Slow Jams off key & at full blast!
