elevated kC9zl Obituary
elevated kC9zl Generous, vivacious and outgoing, José Maria Pacheco Tavares Silva was born in Água de Pau, São Miguel, Açores on April 27th, 1936. With a tailor as his father and his mother a homemaker, his life started simply as the youngest of three brothers. He quickly learned difficult life lessons and started full-time work at the age of eleven when his father died. He started his education when he was a teenager, studying at night while working in the day. Although he had this later start, it never put him off and once he had finished learning, he worked his way to becoming a bank manager and accountant. He loved recounting tales of the numerous exploits in his youth whether it was diving for octopus, going on errands through the dark forests at night or his trials in the army. He lived life to the full and took pride in being athletic. He would cliff dive, play table tennis, do gymnastics, snorkel, row, parasail, play football and swim in the tumultuous surf. After a successful career in the bank, he wanted to challenge himself and look for new opportunities. He moved to Canada in the mid-1960s and started his career from scratch. He knew hard work was inevitable. He could not speak English when he first arrived, but that did not stand in his way. As fate would have it, he got a job at a hospital in Toronto as an orderly where he met his future wife Rani who worked there as a registered nurse. In 1975, they married. They were blessed with two children, Renita and David. He got a job in a pharmacy where he learned skills that guided him on his goal towards entrepreneurship. He opened his first business in Little Portugal, Toronto, a variety store. However, he never let go of his passion towards accounting and started providing bookkeeping and accounting services in the office at the back of the store. Although he has great salesmanship, he devoted more of his time to accounting. His clients boomed and along with that so did his success. He loved spending time with his clients and coworkers and many of them were with him for decades. He had built a strong and fulfilling life for himself and his family. He is survived by his wife, two children and five grandchildren. He passed away on July 2nd, 2023 at the age of 87. May his soul find eternal peace with the mercy of God’s love and grace.

Thank you for such a heartfelt and thoughtful message.
