Justin & Family,
I was very saddened to hear of Joseph’s passing when I stopped into the restaurant today. It has been a few years since I’ve been back to Golden Star and I wasn’t expecting such news.
Some of my best hockey memories were playing peewee hockey on the same team as Justin and having the Doria family generously sponsor our team.
Joseph and the rest of the Doria family always treat everyone like family. He was a great man and will be will missed by many.
Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Our sincerest condolences,
Trevor Good & Family

Joe was the face of the golden star. His smile was infectious, he had a giant personality and a love of life. He will be missed by the community.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. So many dear memories of times spent with the Doria family . Our condolences to all, you are in our thoughts.
My deepest condolences to the Doria family. I worked for Joe 40yrs ago and he’s alway made a lasting impression on all that knows him. He will be truly missed.
This is so sad! I have known Joe since the Golden Star opened up! He always had a smile, kind word and a rhyme for anyone who came through the doors! Condolences to his family and friends! Joe will be sorely missed!
My sincerest condolences to the entire Doria Family. Your family is a part of so many other families, and your children are continuing that legacy. The Golden Star is a part of most Thornhill’ians … When I was in high-school (80s) it was our hangout!! Joe, was always there to greet you with his rhymes as soon as you walked in.. his smile warm and friendly. I hold fond memories of the family since 1979 … May you all find peace, love and strength & comfort in each other through this difficult time. You are not alone, Thornhill wraps their arms around you all. I now live 6.5hrs away – and when I am in Thornhill – The Star is where I go for a burger… and Joe use to say.. “They come from near and far to the Golden Star, its the best by far…” RIP Joe – you will be missed dearly, Thank you for everything <3
We can’t imagine what your entire family must be feeling right now, please accept our heartfelt condolences and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. God bless.
