It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Mary McCarthy, who passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 61.

elevated Cj4I6 Kathryn will be dearly missed by her brother John Brendan, sister Michele, and nephew Denis. She is also fondly remembered by her many cousins in Canada, the United States, Ireland, and England.

elevated Cj4I6 Kathryn was known for her bright smile, her beautiful blue eyes, and her lifelong love of The Lawrence Welk Show.

elevated Cj4I6 Born in Willowdale, the daughter of John and Kathleen McCarthy, Kathryn lived at home with her family until the day of her 40th birthday. The next day, she moved into a Reena-run group home, first on Lowesmoor Avenue, and later to the Lou Fruitman Residence. Kathryn received exceptional care from her devoted primary caregivers Mona Brown and Abimbola Gbadeba, as well as many wonderful PSWs, including Jeje, Lilia, Celina, Zainab, Agnes, Paulette, Lyster, Margaret, Zaint, Cynthia, Oyemwen, Mabel, Margaret, and Gina. The family is deeply grateful for their compassion and dedication.

elevated Cj4I6 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 127 Humanitarian Aid Society, which supports orphans, seniors, and people with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan, and to The Reena Foundation, which supports individuals with developmental disabilities in Ontario.
