elevated u3rhi

elevated u3rhi With great sorrow, we announce that our beloved Katica Šestanović has passed away peacefully at home with her family and friends close by.

elevated u3rhi She was an intelligent, perceptive, humorous and direct woman, known for her strength, determination and sharp wit, which those who knew her admired and respected.

elevated u3rhi In 1965, Katica left her homeland in Lumbarda, Korcula to come to Canada. Arriving without knowing the language and without the support of immediate family, she faced the challenges of a new country with remarkable strength, resilience and perseverance, building a life and a future for her family.

elevated u3rhi Her love for education and her Croatian heritage remained important throughout her life. In Canada, she shared her passion for language and culture by teaching Croatian school, helping younger generations stay connected to their roots and preserve their heritage, while also volunteering and contributing to her community whenever she could.

elevated u3rhi Katica was also a self-taught master seamstress, known for her remarkable skill and attention to detail. She lovingly created draperies for many families’ homes, sewed beautiful dresses and traditional Croatian folklore costumes and altered and mended clothing for many loyal customers who trusted her craftsmanship.

elevated u3rhi Katica was a strong yet sensitive woman whose love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She adored her grandchildren, whom she helped raise and lovingly care for, often preparing meals from scratch and creating a warm home where they always felt welcome.

elevated u3rhi Her greatest joy and pride in life was her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband Ante of 61 years, loving mother of Janet, Nancy (Bill), Ante (Sandra) and cherished grandmother to Nicholas (Annabelle), Alex (Emma), Angelina (Luka), Anthony and Ella, who will forever hold her love and memory in their hearts.  She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Ante (deceased) and sisters Neda, Svetka, Karmela and their families in Croatia and Australia.

elevated u3rhi Katica will always be known for her intelligence, strength, honesty, sharp wit and free spirit.  She carried these traits with her through her final days and taught her loved ones the same.

elevated u3rhi The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Dorothy Ley Hospice, her PSWs and to all family and friends who came to visit during her final days with us.  As expressions of sympathy, donations can be sent to the Dorothy Ley Hospice.

elevated u3rhi She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

elevated u3rhi Počivaj u miru Božjem.

elevated u3rhi May she rest in peace.
