Obituary

elevated xzdnJ Lau Lai King, Anna, January 15, 1928 – February 18, 2023, a devoted and cherished wife of Mui Nai Sum for over 74 years, who passed away two years ago, and gentle loving mother of Mary Mui, passed away peacefully in Yee Hong McNicoll Nursing Home at the age of 95. She will be dearly missed by all her nephews, nieces and their family members both in Canada and Hong Kong.

elevated xzdnJ Lai King was the youngest in the family, with much older siblings and had a happy care free childhood growing up in Aberdeen, a fishing village in Hong Kong at that time. Unfortunately, both parents died during the War, and she became totally independent even though she was only a young teenager then. With a girl friend she ventured to Mainland China to seek better jobs. After the War they returned to Hong Kong, and soon met her first and life-long love, Nai Sum. They got married and started their own family. Lai King devoted wholeheartedly the majority of her life taking excellent care of her family. To her, her family was everything. Responding to God’s calling she was baptized by Fr. Peter Lei of St. Jude’s Church in Hong Kong. Together with her husband, she moved to Canada in 1990 to join their daughter in Toronto. Despite language barrier she soon settled down and really enjoyed the simple, peaceful life in the new country meeting old and making new friends.

elevated xzdnJ Although we miss her sorely, we celebrate her new life and share her joy of reunion with her dear beloved husband in their Heavenly home.
