Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lau Ying Kong, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, in her 99th year. Being one of the last of her generation, Lau Ying is now reunited with her cherished husband, Charles, and all her relatives. Having survived communism, war and forced migration to two countries before settling in Canada, she was a morally strong and resilient person, who understood deeply the meaning of gratitude, fairness, hard work, friendship and family. She leaves behind her loving children: Manning (Sue), Ron (Cathy), Julie (Ivan), and Dennis (Sun), who will forever miss her. She will be sorely missed by her beloved grandchildren: Tina (Frank), Jeremy (Khim), Timothy (Lits), Daniel (Tian), Rachelle (Michael), Joshua, Brandon, Brian, and Jessica; and by her precious great-grandchildren: Jadalynn, Jailong, and Isabelle.

RIP to a gentle and kind soul – Suk’Mei. I will always cherish your warm hugs and smile that would always make me melt. I remember playing with your makeup as a child and always being greeted with your big smile saying “Muinee”! I take comfort in knowing you are resting peacefully with the rest of the Kongs in heaven. Sending my love to the rest of the Kong family and gratitude in setting a strong example of caring for you with so much love and dignity in your final weeks and days. Love always, Ashleigh (Nathan) and Aurora.
Our deepest condolences to Manning/Sue, Ronnie, Julie, Dennis, Tina, Jeremy and Families. Mrs. Kong was a very special person, a dear friend of my Mom’s and a strong, independent lady, She will be sorely missed for her kind, gentle disposition …. and we will miss her delicious Hakka Pork & Yam dish!
