elevated hdoE7 Obituary
Lena Elzie Mofford, 86, of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 at Scarborough General Hospital. Elzie was born on July 22, 1936 to Effie and Tracey Mofford in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She was the fourth of six girls, Ruby, Emily, Veltie, (Elzie), Liz and Beather. She attended Dorchester Hill School and went on to work at Beachcombers in Kingstown until the age of twenty one, when she met Carlton Richardson and had her first son, Rick. She later met and married Carlton Keizer seven years later, and had Kenny and then Brian. Elzie immigrated to Canada on October 31, 1988 along with her two youngest sons.
elevated hdoE7 After arriving in Canada, she worked diligently at McDonald’s morning shift, for almost 2 years before taking on a caregiver role for her good friend’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davis until they passed. Elzie became an integral part of her community, by launching a food bank (Daily Bread and Second Harvest) and serving as the food bank president for more than 20 years at her building, at which she dutifully worked until she was hospitalized. She also volunteered as an on-call, key-holder after hours in cases of emergency. Her friends at the building will miss her dearly and hold very fond memories of her. Elzie lived on her own until the day she passed; she proved to be a very strong, independent and kind person with a very giving heart. Elzie attended and was a member of Scarborough Gospel Temple. She also took part in weekly Bible study groups at her building.
elevated hdoE7 She will be missed by her sister Beather, her sons Rick (Karen), Kenny (Carole), Brian (Lisa), Grandsons, Travis(Chanelle), Nicholas, Matthew, Ramon, Joshua, granddaughter, Gabriella, great grandsons Jaxson and Mason, many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances. Elzie was quite the fighter and now she sleeps until she meets her Lord and Saviour.
