Our hearts were broken to hear this terrible news she was one of the good ones. Our deepest condolences to Pat and family. We will all miss her dearly. With much love, Teresa and Rita Piccioni
My dear Auntie Lena,
Today would have been your 78th Birthday… you being the “Event Queen,” would have made a special dinner to be shared with your family/friends. You would have had at least one cake for dessert and everybody there would have sang “Happy Birthday” to you. This would happen only after doing your favourite thing…playing cards!!
When I was a kid, you were the “wild aunt”. The one who smoked and was “hip”, the one who was always looking to do fun things. I think your love of dancing inspired Lulu and I. You made me laugh so many times with your crazy behaviour. I will NEVER forget one of the best laughs I ever had in my life was with you in Cuba trying to swat all the flies away from Pat. Penny will never forget that either.
You were ferocious and an advocate when it came to the people you cared about. I remember being on an airplane with you where you were not afraid to “mince words” with the flight attendant who refused to help you when Lulu was not feeling well.
You were never afraid of speaking your mind. You were a romantic, so of course you chose Valentine’s Day to marry the love of your life. A great matchmaker too ‘cuz you introduced your sister to the love of her life. You were such a proud Grandmother who made a beautiful speech at Zavier’s wedding.
You worked for a physician and made your own diagnoses for the patients and others but without the medical degree. You were right when you told me to always get more than one medical opinion and that doctors are just human like all of us and make mistakes.
The first time I saw you walking with a cane, it shocked and bothered me because I just assumed you were invincible but I guess none of us are.
I am so sad that I won’t be able talk with you, play cards with you and eat your delicious food…especially the pasta with peas you made special for me.
We lost you here on Earth but Heaven sure gained a force to be reckoned with! I can hear you “knocking” in Heaven!
Your loving niece,
Cathi xoOX

We love you so much! We miss you so much! You will forever be in our hearts!
I will always remember the time that we went to the Michael Jackson concert and you threw ice at the people in front us because they would not sit down and were blocking our view! I laughed so hard!!
You were the queen of tomato sauce, and you made the best pasta and Fagioli.
I remember your 70’s decked out house with the lava lamp, cool ashtrays and funky lights.
You had a taste for hunky men including Elvis and chippendales calendars.
We love you and you will love forever in our hearts.
I was shocked and very sad to hear the news before Zia Lena’s birthday which is also my birthday, except from different times.
I have good memories with her and Zio Pat that I will cherish for the rest of my life. They were both there for support when my dad passed away 2 years ago. She prepared a beautiful speech for my dad’s burial which brought my mom and I to tears. Zio Pat and my dad were cousins and my dad basically grew up with Zia Lena and she helped him get a job when he first came to Toronto.
I will always remember Zia Lena as a great and humorous soul with an infectious laugh. I remember her inviting me to her place for dinner the evening before my flight to Italy and she gave me advice about money and mental health. She always gave good advice and cracked jokes when it got too serious. She will truly be missed. My sincerest condolences to Zio Pat and family.
Rest In Peace Zia Lena ♥️🙏🏻
Our deepest condolences to Pat and all the family; our thoughts and prayers are with you; may the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Our connection with Lena in recent years meant a great deal to our family, she will be deeply missed, may she rest in peace.
What a shock to hear that Lena has passed.
I know today is very hard as you say goodbye but you will always have the beautiful memories that you have all shared throughout the years. (I will never forget how much fun and laughter we had in Cuba)!!
My heartfelt condolences to all the family.
May she Rest In Eternal Peace.
Good afternoon all my Mother in law has went home ….. I was saddened by the news but i am confident that Lena is in a much better place….
