elevated cPZDl It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard Philip Petrillo announces his passing away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, peacefully at Southlake Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Newmarket Ontario. He was surrounded by love and support from his devoted wife Linda, and his children Larissa and Matt after a brave struggle with a very rare cancer for roughly two years.
elevated cPZDl Leonard was born on June 20, 1941, and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. The son of the late Philip and Bernice Petrillo, and his late brother Alan. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Linda, along with their blended family Matt Petrillo, Larissa Petrillo and her husband Jay Goto, Ann-Marie and her husband Carey Riddell, Karen McNeill and her partner O’Neal Cross; and Stefanie Hartas.
He was a loving and extremely proud grandfather of Nigel Goto, Trent Riddell, Madison Follett, and Lauren Riddell.
elevated cPZDl Leonard graduated with a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto 1964 and Bachelor of Law, Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, Ontario 1967.
elevated cPZDl He was Partner, Robinson & Petrillo, 1969 – 1979; Corporate Counsel, Seel Enterprises Ltd. 1979 – 1981; General Counsel, Toronto Stock Exchange 1981; Corporation Secretary, Secretary to Board of Governors, Toronto Stock Exchange 1984 – 1998; Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary, Toronto Stock Exchange; since 1996 Board of Directors, Canada Dealing Network Inc. 2004.
elevated cPZDl Outside of his professional life Leonard enjoyed living in Delmanor Aurora, playing golf, belonging to the baseball pool for over 30+ years, the NFL Fantasy pool, trivia, movies, and travelling especially to Florida where he thoroughly enjoyed the snowbird life with our Florida friends. Leonard had a great sense of humor, loved golfing with his dear friends of over 50 years.
elevated cPZDl His greatest delights though, were the love for his family and his pride in his grandchildren.
elevated cPZDl A heartfelt thank you to Dr Victor Chapnik, Dr. Preiner, Dr. Zibdawi (who never gave up on Leonard), Dr. Cindy So (who followed him through this journey with love and kindness) Neda Zali and of course the amazing Palliative Care Nurses at Southlake Hospital who were so kind and attentive.

Dear Linda. Please know that my heart and thoughts are with you at this emotionally difficult time. During the brief period I knew Len at Del Manor, he was obviously a very exceptional man. And your devoted and loving care most certainly gave him more quality time for family than he otherwise might have had. I include myself in the many friends who will be available to support you in the coming months and years, as you begin a new phase of life, full of great memories of a your life well lived with Len. Len was my best friend for seven decades during which we shared thousands of laughs and more than a few tears. He was my mentor, my muse, my coach, my motivator, my audience, my fan, my go-to guy when I wanted to laugh, to vent, to regret. He was truly my everything.
Without my buddy, life will never again be so fulfilling. But I will resolutely and contentedly persevere because that would be Len’s fondest wish.
My strongest condolences, dear Linda, Larissa, Matt and your remarkably kind and loving families. You are all exceptional, You are all precisely what the unforgettable Len Petrillo so richly deserved.

It is with sadness that I write this. Len and I were colleagues during the 8 years I worked at the Toronto Stock Exchange. We reconnected most recently at Delmanor Aurora where we both had apartments. Len and I got together a few times last summer to reminisce. I will remember him for his positive attitude despite his health challenge, which he faced with courage, grace and an indomitable spirit.

I was saddened to hear about Len. I had the privilege of working with him when he was General Counsel at Toronto Stock Exchange. Len (as all his staff called him) was well-liked and respected by everyone. Despite a demanding position, Len always made time to talk with his staff. His door was always open. He carried out his many executive responsibilities with unwavering skill and integrity and he never lost his sense of humour. My sincere sympathy to Linda and the family at this sad time.
I was very sorry to hear about Len’s passing. He was an OG in our Bay Street fantasy baseball pool for more than 30 years, and his presence and wit brought so much fun, banter, and camaraderie to everyone involved. We only got to see him once or twice a year since his move to Florida, but when we did see him, it was always entertaining. He will truly be missed. Wishing Linda and the family strength, comfort, and peace.

I am deeply saddened that I cannot be there with you on Feb 2 to honor such a remarkable man. Uncle Len had a loving presence who taught us all the true meaning of courage. Throughout his long journey with cancer, his lack of complaint was a testament to his incredible spirit; he never let his own struggle overshadow his care for everyone else. He was always offering a kind word or a helping hand when it was needed most.
I will forever cherish the memories of his love for the game—whether it was the precision of a golf swing or the strategy of a baseball diamond. He understood that life, like sports, requires patience, resilience, and a team that stands by you.
Though he has finished his final round and rounded the bases for home, his warmth remains with all of us. Sending you all my love and strength as we celebrate a life truly well-played.
