elevated ldpkO Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Leonida (Tedesco) Buldo, on June 25, 2026, at the age of 80.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Lorenzo Buldo. Cherished mother of George (Sandra Sabatino-Buldo) and Laura (Lorenzo Accettola). Proud Nonna to †Piero, Matteo, Gianluca, Elena, Daniel, Marc, and Eva. Dear sister of Pierino (Anna) and Luciana (the late Lino). Predeceased by her siblings Italo, Antonietta (the late Filippo), Ernesto, Ennio, and Alida (the late Aldo).

She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Livia, Ivonne, Lucia (Nicola), and Sandra; by the family of her late brother-in-law Pietro (the late Pia); and by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Born in Friuli, Leonida learned resilience early in life. After the passing of her father, she immigrated to Toronto with her mother and younger sister, Alida, to reunite with family members who had already made Canada their home. She began working at a young age, earning the respect of everyone who knew her through her exceptional work ethic, kindness, humility, and quiet grace.

Lorenzo and Leonida married and settled into their first home in the Royal York area before moving to a farm just north of Brampton. For more than a decade, it became the heart of family life, where George and Laura, together with their cousins, spent endless summers exploring the fields, building forts, and creating memories that remain treasured today. Farm life taught resilience, gratitude, resourcefulness, and the importance of working together. It became a place where cousins became lifelong friends and family bonds grew stronger.

Together, Leonida and Lorenzo worked tirelessly to give George and Laura opportunities they themselves had never known. They believed deeply in the value of education and were immensely proud of their children’s accomplishments. After Lorenzo’s passing in 2001, her grandchildren became the light of her life. She cherished every opportunity to be with them and celebrated each milestone with quiet pride and unconditional love.

Leonida found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending her flowers and gardens, taking long daily walks, and spending time with those she loved. Whether playing cards, enjoying family picnics, or simply being together, she treasured every moment. Family bocce games were never complete without Leonida reaching for her measuring stick to settle the inevitable debate over which ball was closest to the pallino.

Nearly ten years ago, Leonida was diagnosed with early-onset dementia. Over the past five years, Alzheimer’s disease gradually stole many of her memories, but it never diminished the love she gave or the love she inspired. Even as memories faded, her gentle spirit, warm smile, and deep connection with those she loved remained.

Her life was a testament to the quiet strength of a woman who asked for little, gave so much, and found her greatest happiness in seeing those she loved happy.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Villa Leonardo Gambin Long-Term Care Centre for the exceptional care, kindness, dignity, and respect they showed Leonida throughout the past three years. Your compassion brought comfort not only to her, but to our entire family, and for that we will be forever grateful.

While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the beautiful life she lived and take comfort in knowing that her long journey has come to a peaceful end. Leonida will be remembered for her humility, quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and, above all, the unconditional love she gave to her family. Her greatest legacy is the family she nurtured and the values she lived every day.
