It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lewis Ritchie, 81, of Mississauga, on Sunday, December 19, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer while in the compassionate care of the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
elevated RpUfp Lewis, or Lou as he was more commonly known, was born on August 22, 1940, to Lewis and Margaret (McCrudden) Ritchie in Glasgow, Scotland. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne (Marshman) Ritchie of Mississauga, devotedly married for 48 years. Lou was a caring father to Jason (Christina) Ritchie of Mississauga, an always doting grandfather to Olivia and Aleksandra Ritchie, brother to Ronnie (Christine) Ritchie of Jersey, CI., and nephew to Jimmy (Sheila) McGarry of Glasgow, Scotland.
elevated RpUfp A graduate of Possilpark Secondary School, Lou left Scotland bound for Canada in 1960 and spent time coaching his beloved sport of soccer, settling in Toronto and working for most of his pre-retirement days in warehouse management.
elevated RpUfp The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Oncology and Palliative Care Teams at Credit Valley Hospital, and the doctors, nurses, PSWs and volunteers of the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Cremation is taking place the week of December 20th and per Lou’s request, no formal service is to be held, however a Celebration of Life will be held in spring, 2022. For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family requests considering the Dorothy Ley Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society.
There are no words to express the sadness in our hearts. Lou was such a special man and we were blessed to have his friendship. Our sincerest condolences for your loss and prayers for comfort. Cheers to you Lou, our dearest friend, you will be missed
Dear Aunt Sue, Jason and family. My sincerest condolences on the passing of Uncle Lewis. Hoping that treasured memories of good time spent together will ease some of your grief and may even bring you a smile, for we were all blessedly to have known him. I am sure Uncle Lewis and my dad are having a dram and a good laugh together.
