With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lilly Damyanti Ousman, who went home to God on August 15, 2025, in Burlington, Ontario, at the age of 75, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 9, 1949, in Vreed-En-Hoop, Guyana.
Lilly was the wife of the late Mirza Mohamed Shameer Ousman, and the devoted mother of Shalina (David), Sherisa (Trevor), and Christopher. She now reunites in eternal peace with her cherished son, Feisal, who passed in 1989. Lilly was a loving Nana to Carmen, Micah, Aefa, and Cora, and a caring companion to her faithful dogs, Fido (and the departed Frosty).
Lilly dedicated 44 years of her career to the Royal Bank of Canada, serving in both Guyana and Canada, and retired in 2015 as a respected Senior Compliance Officer. She was admired for her diligence, humility, and integrity.
Above all, Lilly’s greatest joy was her family. She was a quiet, kind, patient, and hardworking woman who poured her heart into ensuring her children and grandchildren were well cared for. A devout Catholic, she lived her faith deeply, attending Mass regularly and praying fervently for those she loved.
She found joy in cooking, baking, yoga, and reading, and she will be remembered for her devotion to her children, her perseverance through life’s many challenges, and her peaceful nature, despite the ups and downs.
Lilly leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will live on through her family and all who knew her.
May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
So sad at the loss of my Auntie Lilly. With the passing of someone close to you, all that remains are memories.
As a young boy growing up in Guyana I remembered her wedding day, chocolates she brought to us at New Road when she visited (with Shameer , Shalina and Feisal), staying with her in Georgetown, visiting her workplace-Royal Bank of Canada and many more memories.
Auntie Lilly has now joined Shameer and Feisal in that peaceful place – blessings to them all.
Although it’s been a few years since I saw Lilly she was always in my thoughts.
Auntie Lilly leaves behind positive memories of love, kindness and great children.
Shalina, Sherisa and Christopher I send my sincere condolences and best wishes to you all.
RIP Lilly.
