Livia Apollonio Carmosino

elevated Qc4XI Livia had a life well lived and she was well loved! The Lord called her home and she passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 28, 2021. She will be reunited with her husband, the late Adelio Carmosino, and her late daughters, Gina and Adelina (Tony).
elevated Qc4XI Livia was born in Cerreto di Vastogirardi, Italy in 1925 to Giuseppina Carmosino and Olindo Apollonio, and was a loving sister to Ida Rotolo. Livia lost both parents at a very young age, and was taken in by her uncles and moved to Villa San Michele when she was a young girl.
elevated Qc4XI In 1948, she married Adelio and shortly after, she became pregnant with their first daughter, Gina. Soon after becoming pregnant, Adelio moved to Toronto to lay the foundation for their future in Canada.
elevated Qc4XI Livia, with her young daughter Gina in tow, emigrated to Canada and reunited with Adelio in May 1953. They lived on Nairn Avenue and helped many family members immigrate to Canada. In 1961, their second daughter Adelina was born.
elevated Qc4XI While in Toronto, Livia worked in various factories to help provide for her family. She was an incredible and loving wife and mother. She was also the caregiver to her late mother-in-law, Adelina Carmosino, whom she called “Ma” and who Livia truly cared for as if she was her own mother.
elevated Qc4XI Livia had a very strong sense of family and demonstrated this by helping to raise her six grandchildren Livia (Eddy), Vincenza (Marcelo), Antonietta (David), Anthony (Justine), Brandon and Nicholas; and was the adored Bisnonna to Ashton, Christian, Sebastian, Valentino and Estelle. She will be greatly missed by them and by the entire Carmosino, Apollonio and Rotolo families.
elevated Qc4XI When not busy caring for her family, you would find Livia either tinkering in her vast vegetable garden or in the kitchen cooking up her specialty, homemade spinach-ricotta ravioli.
elevated Qc4XI She will be eternally remembered for her kind and fun loving nature, her giving personality, immense strength, her strong desire to keep family together, her unconditional forgiveness and perseverance.
elevated Qc4XI Cancer has struck many in our family, including Livia’s husband and daughters. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Livia’s honour to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or Pancreatic Cancer Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy.

elevated Qc4XI The Funeral is following COVID protocol and therefore it will be a private funeral. A live stream of her life celebration mass will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10:30 am and will be available for 90 days thereafter for anyone who would like to take part and celebrate the life of Livia.
elevated Qc4XI A private entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Thornhill, where she will be reunited with her family that she has so desperately missed.

One memory that stands out is on Friday nights after dinner while we would be washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen, we would dancers reggae that was playing on 88.1 fm, Nonna would pretend to not like it when we would force her to dance but couldn’t stop laughing hysterically and she secretly loved reggae. I guess it was calming and sounded happy
Lol! That front hallway of our house was the best dance floor. Marble and all. We had so many good times there.
When I would have a day off, Nonna would always asked if I wanted to go shopping. She loved it, we would go to the mall or we would go downtown, she also loved Chinese food. She loved going out and she would always buy me something! 😊
Nonna you were a positive role model in our lives, you were hardworking, resiliant, humble, modest, dutiful, dedicated, selfless and pious. In hard times you always remained strong , you have endured so much and you never gave up, you kept putting one foot in front of the other no matter how treacherous your journey became at times.
We will deeply miss you Zia I wish we could have seen you more, truly a beautiful Soul..God has another Angel
Nonna Livia did everything she could to provide for her family. Whether it was helping relatives come to Canada, or relocating us and putting a roof over our heads in Thornhill, she always gave her all. She loved her family so much – her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She had the biggest heart ❤ and the sweetest smile, I’d do anything for her. Even if she did used to hit my door with the vacuum to wake me up, or making me shovel the snow every 2 hours…just in case someone comes over. She’d give me a piece of parmesan and call it even. Love you Nonna!!
On Friday nights after dinner, when we would be washing dishes, we would blast 88.1 fm because they played reggae music, we would force Nonna to dance and she always pretended she hated it but couldn’t stop laughing hysterically the whole time we were dancing. She loved reggae music- I guess because it sounds so happy
We will miss you, not many people have a chance to meet their great grandmothers and we also had the chance to live with you and get to know you. We love you!
Zia Livia was a great woman. I always looked forward to seeing her at family events. I’ll miss here.
We loved Nonna so much, we enjoyed visiting her during special occasions in the dining room because we had so much fun. Especially at Christmas time and Easter time and at her birthday. We will miss you very much and we hope you are reunited with your family and friends in heaven.
It was a beautiful ceremony.
She was one of the kindest most loving people I have ever met. When you saw her you always felt the love.

ZIA LIVIA was the most loving person we will ever come to know in our lives.
She would always light up when she saw me and Jack and we would too. She had a very big heart. We love you
Zia Livia, loving Grandmother and Mother, was truly a “Shining Star” who touched every ones heart, with her kindness, caring and generosity. We will always remember what a lovely person she was and her funny sense of humor. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.
Livia was a kind and strong woman with a beautiful soul. Family was everything to her and this is evident in the love you all surrounded her with. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
I will miss you! You were my Nonna, but you were also one of my best friends!
I had the opportunity to spend so much time with you and I am grateful for that. When I think back I feel as though time has also passed by fast!
I will miss just snuggling on the couch with you or bringing you for a walk or bringing you out back, to the gardens.
One of the funniest times was when Zia Ida slept over for the weekend, about 20 years ago now and you had both just gone to bed, I could hear you whispering like little girls- it was so cute. About 20 minutes or so later, all we heard was a huge boom come from the bedroom- all you could hear was “eeeeee’”! When we walked in, the mattress had collapsed and they were on the floor in their nighty’s cursing and my mom myself and siblings were dying of laughter! It was so funny- they began to laugh hysterically as well!
I was always so grateful to share the same birthday with Zia Livia. She was always so kind and humble. I know she did all she could to help her family and support her extended family. Her and my Nona were great friends, I hope they enjoy reuniting.
