elevated AtTFA 1941-2022
Livio Stuparich, a musician, husband, father and grandfather died peacefully on July 30th, 2022 at the age of 81 in Toronto, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Ines of 59 years; his son, Mauro; his daughter-in-law, Alexandra; his grandchildren, Paola and Sebastian; his niece Alena and nephew Elvis. He is predeceased by his father, Mario; his mother, Carolina; his brother, Edi and his aunt, Marija.
Livio was born in Krnica, Istria on February 10, 1941 to Mario and Carolina Stuparič. On July 20th 1963 in Trieste, he married his wife Ines whom he met in Pola, Istria. Together, they moved to Toronto in 1964 to join family. On October 5th, 1965 he and Ines welcomed their son Mauro, for whom they would have done, and did, anything. He was the director of Maple Leaf School of Music from 1965 to 1989 while also working as a music teacher at the Metropolitan Separate School Board (MSSB/TCDSB). Throughout his life he was also a composer, a member of many music groups and recorded various albums. Towards the end of his life he dedicated 31 years as the organist at St. Nicholas of Bari Catholic Church. He continued to devote his energy to music and community when he retired and founded and led the choral group in his condominium building. He was always eager to share his love of music with students, clients, neighbors, family and friends.
Livio was a devoted father and talented musician. He brightened the lives of those around him through his song, and constant joking – he always tried to lighten the mood. He was precise in everything he did, always had a camera in hand and was almost always the last person at the table enjoying a meal. His humor, smile and music will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
To honor Livio’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life on August 6, 2022 at Saints Peter and Paul Parish. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life. We invite attendees to wear bright colors.

To Ines, Mauro and family, I’m sending you my deepest condolences from my family to yours. My memories of Livio span over 50 years as he was my piano teacher in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He was a very kind and patient man. His love of music was evident as he would close his eyes and feel deeply for the music he played. Ines and Mauro, I spend you a big hug and pray that one day a smile will reach your lips when you remember the wonderful memories that you have with him. God Bless.
Dear Ines and family, Sam and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to you.
