LUCIA….. OUR MOTHER
Lucia came from a very humble family in rural Abruzzo, Italy. She was born in 1933 and married our father, Gioacchino, at the young age of 17.
She had her first son at 19.
Her husband was away from home, sometime for weeks or months at a time, working in construction along the river beds or on the mountains of Abruzzo, or alone in Canada, to build a better life for his family. Although she was alone for so long, Lucia was able to successively raise her two sons with love, dedication and lots of sacrifices, and shape the family that we are today.
There was a lot of hardship in her life. Yet, there was lots of love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love was endless and unconditional.
While we will miss her greatly, we know that her legacy, her imprint, will live forever through her loved ones… and each one of us will carry her memory in our hearts.

My condolences to the whole family and especially to Mario and Frank. The loss of your mom is one of the deepest heartaches. I’m so thankful to have gotten to spend some time with her recently. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed. Hugs to all.
