elevated nZiWH Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Lucia De Fatima Chaves, on the morning of Tuesday, January 9th after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully at home in North York, Ontario at the age of 66 years old.

elevated nZiWH Born on October 13, 1957, in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Azores, she was the eldest daughter of Antonio Moura and Emilia Santos. She was predeceased by her brother, Francisco and survived by her siblings Joaó, Antonio, Cidalia, Jose Manuel and Adia.

elevated nZiWH On May 13, 1973, she first met the love of her life, Jose Antonio Chaves. After a brief courtship, they were married on March 21, 1974, in Santa Maria. They immigrated to Canada on January 3, 1975, to start their new life together. That same year, at the very young age of 18, they started their family. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming a mother and taking care of her 3 sons.

elevated nZiWH Loving Mother to Nelson (Diane), Claudio (Debbie) and Jason (Linnea). Caring Avó to Jacob, Lucas, Vanessa, Marcus, Kyle and Nathaniel.

elevated nZiWH Lucia loved to be surrounded by people and visiting with family and friends, even in her final days. Her boisterous voice and infectious laugh could fill any room. Lucia cherished her lifelong friendships and always made an effort to stay in contact with those she loved.
