Obituary

elevated vzH0N It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucia Primucci on October 4, 2026, at the age of 92. She is now reunited with her late husband Giuseppe “Joe” Primucci who predeceased her in May 2023.

elevated vzH0N Lucia’s life journey began on February 15, 1934, in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy. She grew up during the difficult years of World War II and its aftermath. In 1953, at the age of 19, she courageously left Italy for Canada in search of a better life along with her mother Angelina.

elevated vzH0N Lucia began working at Reliable Toy Company, where she met Joe, who would become her husband and the love of her life. Together they built a wonderful life and family in Canada over 65 years of marriage.

elevated vzH0N She was a devoted mother to Dominic (Anna Iannacci) and Rosa (Enrico De Pasquale), and to her beloved daughter Angela, who sadly passed away in 1975. She was a cherished Nonna to Joseph, the late Gianluca (2021), Giampiero (Joanna Kyriakou), Daniel (Renee Vallescuro) and Roberto, and a proud great-grandmother to Domenico, Massimo, Simona, Sebastian, Louisa, Oliver and Delilah. She was predeceased by her siblings Graziella, Maria Giuseppe, Rose, Michelina and Peppino. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Vince Primucci (the late Lucy) and is survived by brothers-in-law Sam Primucci (Gemma), Mike Primucci (Susanna) and sister-in-law Teresa Bartucci (Ron).

elevated vzH0N Lucia loved nothing more than family, friends and food. She was an avid cook and generous host taking great pleasure in entertaining and preparing meals for the many people who gathered around her table. Her panzerotti were legendary, as were her pizza, pasta and countless other traditional Italian dishes. Cooking was her way of showing love, bringing people together and keeping alive the traditions of the Italy she had left behind. She was the life of the party and a spontaneous outburst of old Italian songs sung by her at full volume might also be expected.

elevated vzH0N Lucia and Joe also enjoyed many years of travel together following Joe’s retirement in 1998. Their life together was built on love, companionship and a deep devotion to their family.

elevated vzH0N Lucia will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, strength and devotion to her family. She came to Canada as a young woman in search of opportunity and leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the family she and Joe created.

elevated vzH0N The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Julie Napolskikh and caregivers Glazel and Jennifer, whose kindness, compassion and devoted care brought comfort to Lucia and the family during her final years. Their support will always be remembered with gratitude.

elevated vzH0N She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.

elevated vzH0N In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucia’s memory may be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice, whose compassionate care provides comfort and support to individuals and families at the end of life.

elevated vzH0N May she rest in peace.
