Obituary

elevated 7Yez9 Lucia Chow Lo Pui Wah, 96, left us suddenly but peacefully on January 6, 2026 in the comforts of her home. Born on October 12, 1929 to Lo Sau Chee and Lo Choy Suk Yee in Hong Kong, she was the youngest of eight, and to no surprise, was daddy’s little girl. Lucia was forced to terminate schooling during World War II. She had a career in the fashion industry in Hong Kong in the 1960’s up to early 1970’s. At the age of 20, Lucia married her late husband Gabriel Chow, establishing the beginning of her legacy. After Gabriel passed in 1985, Lucia became the matriarch of the Chow family and has been so for the past 40 years. Affectionately known as Poh Poh and Tai Tai, Lucia is survived by her five children, Francis (KK), Margaret (the late Eddie), David (Cat), Helen and Mark, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

elevated 7Yez9 Lucia bravely followed her children and immigrated to Canada at the age of 62. Forced to adapt to an entirely new culture, language and world, she forged on and made friends, got a driver’s license and secretly learned more English than she led others to believe. She was an active member in the Saviour of the World Chinese Catholic Church as a choir member, and at the same time, a home cook spoiling us with her delicious meals and up till her final days, an avid and impressive mahjong player.

elevated 7Yez9 Lucia was a formidable lady, witty, intelligent, beautiful and bold. She has left her mark on this world. We will love and miss her forever.
