elevated XQa51  Obituary

elevated XQa51 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucia Sorgo (Nee Basilico) on Tuesday March 26, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 91.

elevated XQa51 Predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Silvio. Loving mother to Flavia (Andrea) and Roy (Emanuela), proud Nonna to Melissa (Matthew), Bianca, Matthew, Dante, and Michael. Lucia was predeceased by her brother Arduino and sister Giulia, and survived by her devoted sister Ada. Lucia will be sadly missed by her niece Nadia (Nico) and nephews Walter (Diane), Nick and Frank, all her family and  friends.

elevated XQa51 Lucia was born September 13, 1932 in Fiume, Italy. After the war, she along with her parents and younger siblings, were forced to leave their home and live in refugee camps. There she not only made life-long friends, but also met the love of her life, Silvio. Years later, with dreams of a better life, Silvio moved to Canada. In 1953, Lucia joined him in Canada where they started a beautiful life together. Lucia was known amongst her friends and family for her drive, generosity, charisma, and humour with an energy that could brighten up any room.

elevated XQa51 Her family would like to thank the staff at Weston Terrace Community Nursing Home, for their thoughtful and attentive care over the last 7 years, especially during Lucia’s last few weeks.
