elevated bP816 January 24, 1931 ~ January 10, 2021
elevated bP816 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Luigi Bonicelli, beloved husband to the late Herta Bonicelli (nee Glavanits), father of Rita Bonicelli, father-in-law of Ken Chow and proud grandfather of Christopher Chow. He is survived by his sister Angela and predeceased by his sister Maria and brother Aldo.
elevated bP816 Luigi passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday January 10, 2021 at the age of 89, just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. Luigi fought a brave battle against spinal cancer in the last few months of his life. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, strength, and great sense of humour. He leaves us with many fond memories and will be dearly missed by his family.
elevated bP816 Luigi was born in Bordighera Italy on January 24, 1931. He and Herta met in Switzerland and then came to Toronto in 1957 where they were married later that year. After Herta’s passing in 2005, Luigi lived independently in his home on Whitmore Avenue. There was nothing more important to Luigi and Herta than their family and the many friends they made throughout the years.
elevated bP816 The family would like to express our profound thanks to the amazing personal support workers, nurses and doctors for all their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at http://tlcpc.org/temmy-latner/donors, in honour of Luigi. Thank you all for your support and kind words during this difficult time.

Thank you Marco. My dad spoke of your dad often. I phoned my dad every night at home and on the times that he didn’t answer I knew that he would be outside with Mario for their daily “meeting”. I am so sorry for your loss, I am comforted knowing that they are together with Vincenzo.
