In Loving Memory of Majida Zanbaka Khayat
September 18, 1950 – September 15, 2026
With profound sadness, yet with faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we remember and give thanks for the life of our beloved Majida Zanbaka Khayat—devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, treasured friend, and a beautiful soul who brought love, warmth, and light to everyone around her.
Born in Baghdad on September 18, 1950, Majida married her beloved husband, Robert, on June 2, 1974. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, faith, and devotion.
Majida was the cherished mother of Saba, Linda, and Halla, loving mother-in-law to Spencer and Roger, and adored Bibi of Layla, Evelyn, Yorel, and Miles. Her family was her greatest blessing and deepest joy. She gave of herself completely, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own.
A woman of deep and unwavering Catholic faith, Majida placed God at the centre of her life. She found strength in prayer and trusted fully in God’s love, mercy, and promise of eternal life.
She lived her faith through compassion, generosity, forgiveness, patience, and unconditional love.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Majida made each person feel valued and deeply loved. Her greatest legacy is not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the love she gave and the faith, kindness, and compassion she passed on to others.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, our Catholic faith reminds us that death is not the end. We trust in Christ’s promise of eternal life and pray that Majida now rests peacefully in the loving presence of God. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, whom Majida loved and trusted, intercede for her and lead her gently into the arms of her Son.
We will carry Majida with us—in our hearts, our prayers, our memories, our traditions, and in the laughter of her grandchildren. The greatest way we can honour her is to live as she did: with faith, kindness, generosity, forgiveness, and love for one another.
Majida, you were deeply loved and will be deeply missed. We thank God for the gift of your life and for the blessing of having shared it with you.
