It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Alicandro (nee Frate) on July 4, 2025, at the age of 92.
elevated Wu6Cg Born November 16, 1932, in Minturno, Latina, Italy, Maria was the second youngest and last remaining of 11 children. At an early age, Maria survived the perils of the Second World War with her family. Maria eventually married the love of her life, Giuseppe, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1958 where they found opportunity and raised a loving family.
Maria remained the devoted wife of Giuseppe for 70 years with whom she is now reunited.
elevated Wu6Cg Maria will be remembered for her kind smile, light laughter, and good nature. She enjoyed singing, was fond of storytelling and was quick witted. Maria was a cherished mother to Antonio (Anna), Salvatore (Sandra), Luciano, Giovanni (Susan), Lucia (Eric) and Giuseppe. Nonna will be affectionately remembered by her adoring grandchildren Daniela (Rick), Christian (Kathleen), Stephen (Jessica), Giuseppe, Julia, Alexander (Jenna), Nicholas, Julia (Wolfang), Olivia, Liana, Massimo, Daniel and Lucas. She also leaves behind 6 beautiful great-grandchildren, Liliana, Athena, Salvatore, Arianna, Domenico, and Adelina.
elevated Wu6Cg Maria will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of her extended family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.

My condolences to the whole family, she was such a special lady I enjoyed her and your dad’s company when they visited my mother Maria and my dad Daniele Valente they remained very good friends until the end. Sorry for her passing.
Thank you very much. Our parents loved visiting each other. They had many laughs together. And how they laughed!! I have vivid memories of them together which I will never forget. They are together now and are enjoying each others’ company once again.
Knowing that you are up there in heaven with my other aunts and uncles gives me enormous peace.
You will be missed by all of us that you left behind.
I have been told that you were my milk mother for a few feedings.
I am optimistic that some of your genes for a long life made it through into my genes as well. Thank you for that. R I P
