elevated 3q84q Obituary
elevated 3q84q We are announcing the passing of Maria Colavecchia. It is a sad announcement for us, but she lived a wonderful life.
elevated 3q84q She left Italy and her loving father, Amato, to build a better life for herself here in Canada. In creating that life, she was always willing to work hard and enjoyed the experience as it was happening. It was here she met her husband, Nicola, and they were completely devoted to each other. They both enjoyed gardening together and on weekends hanging out in Little Italy sipping cappuccinos. She loved cooking for her family and friends, and we all welcomed the amazing meals: the hand rolled fresh pasta, trays of lasagna, and the Italian pastries, cakes, and cookies. There have been so many cherished memories at the dining table.
elevated 3q84q Most who met her became a friend, and in many cases, friends till the end. For us, and for others, she was always there, a quiet steady presence. She exhibited so much fight that one could never feel overwhelmed by life. For her, nothing was ever so bad it could not be turned into something good. Maria may have been only four feet, ten inches tall, but judging by generosity and fiery spirit, she was so much larger.
elevated 3q84q Predeceased by her husband, she leaves behind a son Michael, a loving daughter-in-law, Bella, and so many friends she cherished and loved, who in turn have helped her immensely over the decades. Maria will be sorely missed here. But for those who now have received her, they are very lucky.
elevated 3q84q Thank you for the beautiful memories Mama Maria!
elevated 3q84q In lieu of flowers, please make donations to ShareLife or to Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit in Maria’s honour.

Zia Maria will be deeply missed, especially by her sister Leonilda in Montreal. Despite the distance between them, not a day went by without Leonilda speaking lovingly of her sister and sharing cherished memories with us. We will always remember Zia Maria’s warmth, her gentle kindness, and the pride she took in showing us her beautiful garden and flowers.
My heartfelt condolences to my cousin Mike and his entire family. Wishing you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
