elevated w2VNJ Obituary
elevated w2VNJ Today we lost the light of our life. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Concetta (Scimeca) Di Maria. Heaven has opened the gates to a thoughtful woman who touched the hearts of all who knew her through her beautiful smile and mentorship. Maria encompassed admirable qualities of gracefulness, kindness, and true elegance.
elevated w2VNJ Maria was born on June 16th, 1941 in Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy to Antonino and Giuseppa Scimeca . She was a vibrant young woman who loved her Sunday strolls at the Belvedere. At 17 years old, she courageously immigrated to Canada to join her fiancé Antonino Di Maria. Together, this powerful-duo owned and operated multiple family-owned businesses. Not only was she a successful business partner, but she worked passionately to encompass good family values, and instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. Maria cherished family meal gatherings and ensured to cook everyone’s favourite dishes (no matter how many). She was a master baker and admired for her delicious and authentic Italian cookies. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her, which we will treasure and continue to embrace in her honour.
elevated w2VNJ Maria will be joining her husband, Antonino Di Maria, in heaven. She will be dearly missed by her loving daughters Francesca (Joe Greco) and Josie (Angelo Fazzari). Maria was a proud Nonna to Vincent (Susan), Anthony, her angel in heaven Andrew, Josanna, Michael, and Melina, and great-Nonna to Audrina and Jordyn. Cherished by her siblings Giuseppina (Antonino), Dora (Joe), Giorgo (Providenza), Calogero (Graziella), and Vincenzo (Francesca). We will all dearly miss her comforting presence.
elevated w2VNJ The family would like to thank Dr. Lilani for her compassion, kindness, and guidance during this very difficult time. Flowers or memorial donations may be made to Lung Health Foundation in Maria’s memory.
