It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Ernestina Correia, on February 27, 2025. Beloved wife of 57 years to Crisanto, loving mother to Ana and Frank, cherished grandmother to Andrew and Kyle, caring mother-in-law to Larissa and Douglas.

elevated ndFuO She was born in Fajã de Baixo, Portugal, to parents Jose and Conceicao. The eldest of four siblings, she took on a major role in helping her busy parents to manage the household, and as such had to put her dream of being a teacher on hold.  Maria and Crisanto married in 1967, after 5 years of dating.  In 1969, they left their small village in Sao Miguel to emigrate to Toronto with their new daughter, in search of a bigger and better life for their family. 

elevated ndFuO Family was everything to Maria and she proved that every day. She was shy, selfless and tirelessly devoted to her family, always putting the needs of her husband, children and grandchildren ahead of her own.

elevated ndFuO For the last 17 years of her life, she planted her roots in beautiful Burlington.  After a few years, they purchased their forever home, fulfilling Maria’s longtime dream of owning a bungalow.  She so enjoyed and took great pride in making it a loving home, filled with wonderful, fond memories of traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas family gatherings that we will forever look back on and cherish.

elevated ndFuO Maria will be deeply missed by her family.  May she rest in peace and may God comfort and bring all much peace in the difficult days/years ahead. 🙏

elevated ndFuO Visitation will be taking place on Saturday, March 8^th from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, and the Funeral Mass will take place same day at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph. Interment will take place following the Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

elevated ndFuO As Maria loved her family so, she too so loved being surrounded by flowers; however, should anyone be seeking an alternate way to honor her, you are welcomed to donate to The Canadian Balance and Dizziness Disorders Society, in her memory.
