elevated ml556 Obituary
Maria Helena Oliveira Diniz Carvalho Da Silva peacefully passed away on November 1, 2024, All Saints Day, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. Preceded by her Ze, loving husband of 62 years. Adoring and devoted mother to Paulo, Fatima, Lurdes, George (Kim). Caring and proud Avo to Miguel, Nuno (Kim), Paulo, Sandra, Daymon, and Emersen. Preceded by her parents Joaquim and Conceicao.
elevated ml556 Helena will be remembered in the hearts of many family and friends in Portugal and Canada. If desired, donations to The Palliative Care Unit of Sunnybrook Hospital would be appreciated.
elevated ml556 Helena was born in Portugal, a country she loved and was so proud of. She was an only child absolutely adored by both her parents, who she took care of until their last days.
elevated ml556 She made friends very easily and lacking siblings, those friendships were very special to her.
elevated ml556 Teaching small children was her passion and she graduated from Teachers College. Even though she didn’t get to exercise her chosen profession, she did help her children in their studies. And when her children were older she was a child educator at a day care centre in Lisbon.
elevated ml556 Helena’s life centred around her family, friends, and the Catholic Church, where she met the love of her life, Ze.
elevated ml556 She was never happier than when she had her family around the table talking and enjoying a good meal.
elevated ml556 Her Children and her Grandchildren were her pride and joy and she got so much pleasure when they needed her help with little things like sewing patches on their pants, hemming them, or other ‘couture’ alterations.
elevated ml556 Her life was full of love, especially in her marriage of 62 years to her Ze, who was totally and utterly devoted to her.
elevated ml556 They were known in their neighbourhood as the cute couple that goes everywhere, always holding hands.
elevated ml556 And until Ze’s passing they would sit for hours, again holding hands, watching tv, reading and talking, they always had something to say to each other.
elevated ml556 In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital- Palliative Care Unit
I have lovely memories of Tia and how she always treated me with love and kindness. RIP.
Our love and prayers are with you.❤️
Thank you Teresa and Mark
