elevated Qk0hq Obituary

elevated Qk0hq Maria Luisa Moniz Casquilho, was born September 28th 1949 in the village of Saõ Brás, the Island of Saõ Miguel, in the Açores, Portugal. She was the third of five daughters born to Ermelinda de Freitas Correia and Anibal Tomé Moniz. She went to school locally and graduated 4ta classe. As a young woman she worked as a nanny and house-keeper for a family in the city of Ponta Delgada, the Açores. In 1970 she immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with her mother and worked in various jobs. After a short period of time her mother was unfortunately involved in a traffic accident and had to return home to the Açores. Luisa stayed behind and continued to live with her Godmother Maria do Rosario and her family. In 1972 her intended, Eugenio Casquilho, also immigrated to Canada and the two were married soon afterwards. Luisa and Eugenio were blessed with three children, their eldest son Victor Manuel, their daughter Cristina, and their youngest son Ricardo Filipe. The family eventually were able to purchase a house in Toronto and lived on Lakeview Avenue for many years. Gifted with a beautiful voice Luisa’s great joy in life was singing. She sang mainly in the choirs of Saint Helen’s parish on Dundas Street, Santa Cruz Church on Dovercourt Road, and later in Nossa Senhora de Fatima Church in Brampton. She also worked diligently for many years as a caregiver coordinator at McLeod House, a residence for special-needs adults in Toronto. Unfortunately Luisa suffered with problems of ill health for many years and eventually passed away of complications derived from kidney failure. She leaves behind her grieving husband Eugenio; her children Victor (daughter-in-law Andrea), Cristina and Ricardo; her grandchildren Thomas and Katelin, Alexander and Ava; her sisters Maria da Conceição (her brother-in-law José Manuel Amaral is predeceased), Ines and Ana Isabel; her brothers in-law Laudalino Rebelo, João Rebelo, and João Melo (her youngest sister Mária predeceased her years ago); also her brothers-in-law, Eugenio’s brother’s, José, Manuel and Fransisco (all predeceased); her maternal uncle José Correia (aunt Maria Leonida); also leaving many God-Children, nephews, nieces, and cousins in Portugal, Canada, the United States and Bermuda.  Requiscat in Pace ☩
