elevated sE5l1 Passed away peacefully at Markham-Stouffville Hospital in her 87th year. Reunited with her beloved husband, the late Ernest Hung Yeh Yew (1999).
elevated sE5l1 Loving mother of Jackie, Deb (G. Christopher), Tina (Don), and Chris (Linda). Proud Grandma and Popo to Samantha (Raymond), Skye (Darryl), Jordan, Kaden, and Liam. Great Grandma to Elspeth.
elevated sE5l1 Maria was born Maria Pearl Dos Remedios in Shanghai, China. After WWII, she found herself in Macau as a refugee, later moving to Hong Kong where she would meet and marry her husband Ernest in 1961. During her time in Hong Kong, Maria served in the Royal Hong Kong Navy reserves and graduated from culinary school, eventually settling in Toronto in 1972. A true Toronto sports fan, Maria loved the Blue Jays. She was an active parishioner of St. Paschal Baylon Church and Blessed Trinity Parish for over 30 years and participated in the Catholic Women’s League of Canada weekly bowling club. Maria will be remembered for her immense kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
elevated sE5l1 The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude and thank the extraordinary doctors, nurses, and PSWs who have assisted Maria through the years, especially those at Mon Sheong Private Care in Richmond Hill and Mon Sheong Long Term Care Centre in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
elevated sE5l1 Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Holy Cross Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Rd. East, Thornhill from 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Mon Sheong Foundation – Stouffville Long Term Care Centre or Markham-Stouffville Hospital

I’m sorry to learn the passing of you Mom. I have known her for 40 years! I remember her warm smile and chatting with her after Mass at Blessed Trinity. I still have the 2 bottles of Holy Water she brought back for me from one of her trips. I will always remember her. Take care.
