elevated eS5CT Maria Peticca, neeFacchini, passed away peacefully in the afternoon of April 26, 2021 at Baycrest Hospital, at 99 years of age.  Born on January 23, 1922 in Sora, Italy, Maria is predeceased by her husband Vincenzo and her brothers: Michele, Giulio, Nazareno and Antonio.

elevated eS5CT Adored by her daughter Franca and son in law Domenico; grandchildren Valentina, Daniela and her husband Adrian; cherished great grandchildren Julia, Lucas and Olivia; along with her beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends of whom you are too many to mention here yet are all heart fully acknowledged.

elevated eS5CT Maria was known to so many as “Zia Marietta” and maintained a calm, gentle and deeply caring nature, by which she will always be remembered.  Maria maintained an active lifestyle with a quiet yet strong resolve to live, until her final breath.   She often went on neighborhood walks and greeted passersby with her friendly wave and infectious smile.  She regularly attended mass and was often heard in her flower garden soulfully singing her favorite songs.

elevated eS5CT The simplest pleasures in life brought Maria immense joy. She relished many social events including bingo nights, card games, bocce events, dinner parties and countless social gatherings.  Maria always looked forward to celebrating festive occasions. The most memorable were her birthdays, of which there were so many, full of heartfelt laughter, happy recollections of the past, and above all a deep appreciation of humanity.
