elevated uzUzi Maria was born in Miano, Italy, a small hilltop village nestled amongst the rolling hills in Abruzzo framed by the spectacular Gran Sasso Mountain range.
elevated uzUzi Maria spent her formative years in Argentina with her family, she was impressed with the Buenos Aires community and the impressive school uniform and experiences. She retained most of her Spanish language skills she developed there.
elevated uzUzi In 1960 she married the dashing Antonio Pompilii a man of vision and means in their hometown church in Miano. Antonio had already started a life for himself in Toronto Canada, together they created a life journey focusing on family and friends. Maria was the diamond in his life, the person to create a home and a legacy.
elevated uzUzi The birth of Sabatino and Patrizia were the pride and joy of this union. Both children were raised by loving parents with a strong work ethic and commitment to family. An endearing trait that served them to the end. A full circle of love, life and commitment to care for one another.
elevated uzUzi At the age of 20 Maria embraced her new life in Toronto, learning the language and starting a family, strength of mind and spirit were some of her endearing qualities. She was a respected and resilient person with a strong work ethic and the discipline to succeed.
elevated uzUzi Maria made it a priority to travel back home to see her mother and father and reconnect with her family. These trips were with all the family to instill a connection to the community they both came from developing a sense of pride and belonging, a clear understanding of their roots.
elevated uzUzi After working odd jobs, Maria went into business and created “Three Stars Drapery” an interior design business with her sister Carla DiSabatino and best friend Antoinetta Di Mattia.
elevated uzUzi Later in her career, she devoted time to assist with a local retirement home and elementary school where she prepared meals for the residents and students. She would go beyond the call of duty to engage and mentor young students and provide care for them.
elevated uzUzi Maria had refined culinary skills, and her kitchen was a beehive of activity, her passion was cooking and her greatest joy was to entertain and enjoy peoples company. She had an open door policy and was eager to host family and friends. A chat over an espresso would be a highlight of her day and add value and quality to life. She enjoyed being part of the Abbruzzi choir and playing at the Bocci club.
elevated uzUzi Both Antonio and Maria lovingly tended and maintained a large garden filled with tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers. The pear trees and apple trees produced a bounty of fruit which was enjoyed by all.
elevated uzUzi As her family grew Maria was a devoted grandmother to her 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Marco, Alex, Christian and Kristina. These formative years laid a foundation of love and care to the developing grandkids.
elevated uzUzi She will forever live in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, family, friends.
elevated uzUzi We are sincerely grateful to all who have given their support and comfort during this time of loss. In particular the caregivers Tsehay, Sonia, Vivian, and Purnima.
elevated uzUzi Love you mom.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time xx.
What a beautiful obituary. She sounded like an incredible person. So sorry for your loss.
Dearest Patrizia and Sam,
Your mom was a champion and she fought for what she believed in, right to the end. Always the center of your family , her love radiated to all those she touched. Although we are so sad she has left us all we cannot ever forget the happy times and her quick wit and charm. I especially loved when her and papa would reminisce about their youth and all the trouble they got into. She will be greatly missed but always hold a place in our hearts, such a legacy she left you all!
Sending you all so much love,
Diomira and Salvatore

May your mom RIP and forever in your hearts!
Dear Sabatino and Patrizia I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. Growing up I always remember your mom‘s beauty. I admired how she looked and her fun, loving attitude.
You have no idea how much it meant to me when both your mother and you Patrizia, came to the hospital after I got out of ICU and brought to me. It was so joyous, and I remember laughing for the first time. Maria took the time to come even though she was battling her own illnesses. It’s a day I cannot forget. She was a joy and it’s a visit that makes for wonderful memories. I have my happy memory of your mom and I am certain others also have amazing memories.
Our deepest condolences
