elevated yNHVf Maria grew up on a farm in Orcenico Inferiore, Italy with her 5 siblings. Although she enjoyed being with her family, she made the move to Canada after marrying her husband Grazioso Roman. They married by proxy while she was in Italy and he was in Canada.

elevated yNHVf In February 1957, they reunited when she arrived in Canada on a boat named Independence. Ironically, family and friends would best describe Maria as independent!

elevated yNHVf After coming to Canada, she expanded her family when she had her daughter Carla and son Gianni. Nothing was more important to Maria than family and friends. Over the years, she enjoyed attending dances with Grazioso at the Famee Furlane, where she celebrated countless holidays and events.

elevated yNHVf Maria could always be seen with a smile on her face whether she was with her family, preparing incredible meals, spending time with animals or enjoying delicious desserts. When she moved into the Friuli Terrace she spent her days winning games of bingo, getting her hair done, spending time with friends and drinking green beer every St. Patrick’s day. Maria’s talents included remembering everyone’s birthday, making the best crostoli and never leaving any dessert left on her plate.
