elevated 3BVh4 Peacefully passed away on November 25, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 43. Adored daughter to Gino and Maria, loving sister to Gianni (Stacey). Maria will be lovingly remembered and fondly missed by her soul mate Joe, her aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
This is such sad news.
Maria was a wonderful addition to the faculty and I enjoyed working with her – alas, it was for way too short a time.
My sympathy to Maria’s family and friends. I enjoyed working with Maria at the ROM, and have good memories of her warmth, kindness and sense of fun.
I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Maria.
She was my supervisor at the Royal Ontario Museum for several years and I always appreciated her energy and charisma.

Maria was a wonderful soul, full of sunshine, and I feel privileged to have worked with her and socialized with her during the short time we were together at York. She will be sorely missed!

When we were all together at the Royal Ontario Museum, Maria was like a breath of fresh air. Beyond being professional, she was smart, insightful, joyful, humorous…and a good storyteller. Her breadth of knowledge in so many areas always surprised us. Her ability to understand complicated situations and propose solutions was uncanny. We will deeply miss our dear friend.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her. She was a very special person and good friend to all of us at the ROM

My deepest sympathies to the Stea family. I met Maria while working at Humber and we remained good friends over the years. I am devastated at this loss but so lucky to have spent many afternoons and evenings with her (usually over a great meal as she always knew all the best foodie spots in the city!). She was an incredible story teller, wise beyond her years, always selfless and her infectious laugh always light up the room. Until we meet again Maria xo
I was lucky to have had Maria as my supervisor at the Royal Ontario Museum. She was a lovely, kind and supportive being who was well thought of and liked.
She was a friend to me as well, and I am grateful for the time we had together. She will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences to her loved ones. Safe journey, Maria.
From Maria’s School Visits colleagues at the ROM, our heartfelt sympathies and condolences at this time of such loss. We were very fortunate to have worked with Maria and have always felt that no one measured up to her. She was a good, kind and hardworking Manager and colleague; and she always championed for the team. By the end of her time at the ROM we felt we were losing a friend. We miss her a lot.

Maria, a beacon of light and joy. You have made an impact and legacy at Centennial College with your vision and hard work.
I used to look forward to coming to work every day, share updates on fashion, travels to Italy, food, politics, art, music……I still had to introduce you to opera. You left too soon, too fast!

Dear Gino & Maria, I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter Mary. May she rest in peace. I will keep you both and your family in my prayers during this difficult time.
Maria brought a wealth of admirable qualities with her in whatever setting she was in, from her clever incisiveness and quick wit, to her infectious humor to her thoughtful kindness. She would invariably add a helpful insight to improve a situation, without it seeming forced and could break the tension in a room by flashing that bright smile of hers, especially the one with just a hint of conspiratorial mischief. Greatly competent and diligent, working with Maria was a true privilege. Her presence was felt in the world and she made a difference to those around her. I’m greatly saddened by her passing and my deepest sympathies go out to her family and loved ones.

Maria , the sweetest lady of our team, she and I shared some difficult times and made it through by supporting each other. Smart, funny and thoughtful, her leaving so soon is just unfair.
To her family the poem “When Tomorrow Stars Without me” touched my heart when I lost my sister 10 years ago. Hope it does the same to you.

My sincere condolences to her loved ones. Very sad to hear of Maria’s passing today at work. She was just lovely. I am glad to have met her at the ROM. I was happy to learn of her work to support astronomy at York. She gave back. Stardust to stardust.
When I first began working at the ROM, Maria was there, as well. I remember once, when I encountered a particularly challenging situation, Maria, in her supervisory capacity, proved exceptionally supportive. I’ve never forgotten how helpful she was.
Reading through these many tributes are testament to Maria’s very special legacy.
