Here’s one of my favourite poems:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Dear Sister Anne
I can still remember seeing you playing in the school yard with all your friends – you were so well liked by everyone.
I have lost someone who I have loved so strongly.
Love your brother Steve.

Your mom meant a lot to me. She was a dear sister-in-law and friend. I’m sorry I can’t be there but know I am in heart. I pray that our Lord gives you strength at this sad time.
