elevated EhaQJ Obituary
Mary Christine de Souza, of Burlington, Ontario passed away on July 24th, 2023, at the age of eighty-one. Christine faced life, and death, with quiet strength and grace. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Eden.

elevated EhaQJ Christine, or Kitty, as she was known to her close friends and family, was born in Karachi, Pakistan to Joseph P. Lobo and Erminia Lobo. She was one of eight children: brothers Simon, George, Albert (late) and Bishop Anthony Lobo (late) and sisters, Joyce (late), Thelma, and Helen. Christine and Eden were married in 1968 and emigrated from Karachi to Canada in 1970. Together they lived in Scarborough, Ontario, where she taught kindergarten through grade 6, and played the organ at Our Lady of the Rosary. Kitty loved entertaining guests and traveling, planting, and tending to her garden, watching birds, and baking cheese straws. In the evening, she would relax with a glass of red wine, watching CNN, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.

elevated EhaQJ Kitty’s jet-setting lifestyle took her around the world, and most recently to Egypt in her 80th year. Kitty’s generous personality allowed her to make friends everywhere she went, including at her most recent home, Tansley Woods. During the COVID lockdown, her daily Zoom rosary with the D’Cruz family kept her going and her spirits up. She also led the senior singing group on Zoom.

elevated EhaQJ Her family would like to thank relatives and friends who did so much for her, as well as the doctors, nurses, and personal support workers at the Village of Tansley Woods, and Scarborough Health Network. This support allowed Christine to live comfortably and pass away peacefully and with dignity in her own home, as was her wish. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider contributing to the Lung Health Foundation (Canada) or planting a tree in your yard in memory of her. Click here to donate.
