elevated PcqSs Mee Lin Cheung (nee Wong) died peacefully on September 2nd, 2026 at Markham-Stouffville Hospital in Ontario. She was 83 years old. Mee Lin is survived by her son, Timothy Cheung, his wife Sue-Ann Yong, their children Aidan and Caitlin, as well as her brother John Wong.
elevated PcqSs Mee Lin was born on February 20th, 1943 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. She attended Convent School in Johor Bahru before graduating from University of Malaya where she made life long friends. She started her working life as a teacher in Singapore where she taught English at ACS before moving into publishing and editorial work in Jamaica and Toronto; she retired as an Editor with Addison-Wesley. As a small business owner with her husband, she also operated Trans-Can Packaging for many years.
elevated PcqSs After retirement, she was an active supporter to her husband’s Freemason charity work. She loved being out on Lake Couchiching in their trailer in Hammock where she could be found boating and fishing with her two dogs. In her final years, she found kinship at Chartwell Retirement Home, enjoying the various activities – you could always spot her in the Games room with her ‘mahjong kakis’.
elevated PcqSs Through out her life, she was generous with her time to all who needed support and guidance. She will be missed by her family and friends.
elevated PcqSs Donations are unnecessary, though welcome in support of the Toronto Humane Society or the Alzheimer Society of Toronto

I am so sorry that I won’t be able to attend your funeral service, Mei Lin. I am glad at least, I got to see you in the hospital and you insisted the late uncle Bill to drive me home when I was going to call a cab. I am going to miss your kind words and gentle smile. RIP in the arms of Jesus until we meet again in heaven 🙏
