elevated H0Xe9 Mui Nai Sum, Michael, May 2, 1926 – January 20, 2021, devoted and cherished husband of Lau Lai King to whom he was married for over 74 years, and doting loving father of Mary Mui, passed away peacefully in Yee Hong McNicoll Nursing Home at the age of 94. He will be dearly missed by all his nephews, nieces and their family members both in Canada and Hong Kong.

elevated H0Xe9 Nai Sum was a responsible, hard-working person. During the Japanese occupation, a youngster himself, he became the sole breadwinner of the family when his father fell sick. After the death of their parents, he took on the role of guardian and looked after his two younger brothers. When peace restored he resumed his secondary education interrupted by war while working full time and raising a family. After he successfully graduated he continued to take diploma courses after work to improve his qualifications.

elevated H0Xe9 Kind hearted, Nai Sum never turned away anyone who needed help. This earned him trust and respect of many friends and colleagues.

elevated H0Xe9 The Jesuits had long planted God’s seed in his heart when he attended school in Wah Yan College Hong Kong as a boy. It bore fruit in Easter of 2000 when he was baptized by Fr. Philip Chao in Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church.

elevated H0Xe9 In 1990 he moved from Hong Kong to Toronto and soon adapted to the quiet life in Canada, enjoying the fresh air, peaceful surroundings and colorful seasonal changes of nature.

elevated H0Xe9 Although we miss him sorely, we know he has gone to a better place. So while we celebrate the life he lived, let us also celebrate his new life which has just begun.
