elevated Og7iS Obituary
elevated Og7iS With his family by his side, Michael passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital in the early morning hours of December 18, following a short battle with illness. He is survived by Victoria (née Caruso), his beloved wife of 47 years, and daughters Melissa and Michelle. He was pre-deceased by his parents, William and Kathleen (née Thomson).
elevated Og7iS Family was crucially important to Michael, and he was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He will be remembered for his steadfast support, practical advice, dry sense of humour, and wonderful warm hugs.
elevated Og7iS Born and raised in Toronto, Michael graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1976 and was called to the bar in 1978. He entered private practice before going on to work in corporate real estate at TD Bank for many years.
elevated Og7iS Michael was a devoted, if often disappointed, fan of the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, and Green Bay Packers. He loved rock music, especially Pink Floyd, and was always ready to quote an apt lyric from one of his favourite songs. He enjoyed fine wines, classic cars, and travelling with his family, as well as barbecuing, boating, and sharing laughs with loved ones at his cottage in Muskoka.
elevated Og7iS The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff at Sunnybrook for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, they ask you to consider a donation in Michael’s name to St. Clare Inn or another charity of your choice.
elevated Og7iS Michael will be hugely missed.

Dear Vicki, Michelle and Melissa, Michael will be greatly missed. It’s hard to put into words the closeness I felt for Uncle Bill, Aunt Kay, Michael and Linda. I am so thankful that Paul and I met up with Michael and Vicky for dinner in Florida – it will be another pleasant memory. Keep the good times and memories close. Love and hugs being sent your way.
Dear Vicki, Melissa, and Melissa
My sincere condolences for your great loss, and my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Although I met Michael only a short time ago it did not take long to see what an exceptional man he was. I will always remember his kindness, generosity, and gentleness. May you be comforted by the thought that he has a special place in paradise.
All my love to you four, always.
Dear Vicky, Melissa, & Michelle,
There really are no words to express my sorrow over Michael’s passing. As others have said, he was exceptional and I was privileged to know him for 45 years. Vicky, since I was 13, we have always referred to one another as “cousin,”and by extension, I always thought of your gentle, sweet and funny husband as my cousin, as well.
You were all so close to—a marvelous family. I can only imagine your sense of loss.
Goodbye, my dear cousin Michael. Your faith offers you heaven, and I know you are definitely there.
Dear Vicky and family. My sincere condolences to you all. I am saddened by Micheals early departure. While I was working at his house, he would always come to me and offer a cold drink during the hot summer days. He was a very kind and considerate man, and I will miss our conversations on the lawn. Rest in peace my friend.
Vicky and daughters:
I was so saddened to learn of your husband’s untimely passing. It seems nothing is fair but be comforted in knowing that you are much loved by many.
You have been left with good memories that you shared with him and your girls.
Love you
Josie
As you go through this difficult time be assured that prayers are being said for you and your family.
Much love, always
Josie .
Vicki, Michelle and Melissa. I am truly sorry for your loss. I have visited this site numerous times and started to write some words about Michael, I have stopped because nothing seems to be adequate. One more try.
We met in first year law. I would not have finished law school if it was not for Michael’s friendship and lending me his study notes. We started our careers in law together and shared war stories.
We celebrated marriages, children and holidays together. Also, those life events which were painful to each of us.
I am truly sorry that I have been missing in action for the past while.
I miss you and will miss you, my friend. Rest in peace.
Dear Vicki, Melissa, and Michelle
Our sincere condolences, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Dear Vicky, Michelle, and Melissa
Sincere condolences to you. I will miss Michael. When we were young, I remember playing together when our families were neighbours. We also saw each other at family events and at our grandfather’s cottage. Later, I remember him for his kindness and generosity when organizing family reunions.
All the best
Vince and Claudia Thomson
Dear Vicky, Melissa and Michelle,
Words cannot adequately express how sad and sorrowful I feel for your loss.
Michael was a kind, caring, generous and loving person. His family and his faith meant everything to him.
Fortunately, for those of us who knew him and loved him, he has imprinted some of himself on to us so he will be with us always even though his physical presence will be terribly missed.
Sending love, hugs and prayers over the miles,
Your cousin Pat
Dear Vicky, Melissa, and Michelle,
Sending my most heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your beloved Michael.
We met so many years ago when I moved from Winnipeg to Toronto, and from the moment our children were born, we shared such precious times together. I will always cherish the memories of summer barbecues, Halloween parties, holiday dinners, birthdays, each one a fun adventure for our children and a joy for us all. I had never even heard of tiramisu until you made it for us, and to this day it remains one of my favourite desserts, forever tied to those happy moments.
A lifetime of memories, sharing laughter, tears, happy times, and sad ones, truly the circle of life.
Please know that my love is with you, and I am always here to support you, in any way you need.
All my love!
Dear Vicky
Jane and I want to express our deepest sympathies to you and your family on the death of Michael.
You will be in our prayers and we will be thinking about you today.
